As a nonprofit, AMS has limited budget for their publication. A major part of the design process was to find an optimal art direction that would save sufficient funding to carry over to the next issue. This involved browsing through massive historical photo archives, which guaranteed a more affordable price, to pick out the best fit for the articles’ content. I made the most of photographs contributed by AMS’ members and illustration packages from our regularly commissioned artists. I also had many opportunities to utilize my retouching and drawing skill.
